the best friday ever- これまでのところ

ive had good fridays, great fridays, happy fridays, fridays so lit i dont remember them, adventure fridays, even had the craziest friday ever (coworker confessing their love when i handed in my card of resignation) but today, we present the best friday of my life- up until this point anyways.

(in summary format cuz u kno ill get carried away huhuhu)

started the morning w sunny weather n choco cookies frum my pred for breakfast
no one noticed i wuz 5mins late to work cuz they were hittin me with the HISASHIBURI’s (long time no see) :’)
^coworkers in a good mood teaching me new japanese n me trading em for the ‘finger guns’ gesture
productive morning of lesson planning/chill talks with my JTEs
omiyage present on my desk- coworker’s wife gave birth n he taught me the kanji for his kid’s name 😀
new corona schedule aka less classes, less student contact for the next 2 wks
packed a lunchbox for my neighbour so i wouldnt have to eat gumbo 3x in a row n he was so happy he offered to help plan my building’s dinner party next wk! bonus perk: i could buy lunch at 58N- my fave onigiri place and they had limited time baked goods YAY gingersnap cookies!
mailed my stimulus cheque application and saw a butterfly otw
got to talk to all my fave teachers n one of em showed me the tiny lavender garden at school
another brought me to an empty classroom so we could make explosions with a can, paper cup, alcohol and fire
finished my English newsletter aka got to look productive AF at work
left work feeling genuinely content
quikstyled my friday errands as my neighbour mom mentioned she wanted to drop off some rice around 6 (i was thinking it’d be rice balls?)
headed to my usual flower shop where i picked up the cutest purple fluff ball flowers (side story: while editing today’s pics i realized my first pic of the day was a screenshot from a friend in van of the exact purple fluffs!!) and also the owner said he’d loan me his ikebana book next time!
hit up daiso for a quik friday shopping spree and gyomu supa where i copped 1/4 of a watermelon, AND strawberries AND a discounted steak!! TREAT YOSELF (freal why is fruit so damn expensive in this country tho)
off to mister donuts to claim my last free donut and try their brown sugar bbt with one of my most tolerable humans here, after 15mins of accelerated life chats and party planning, picked up some dough balls for my neighbour and printed off my one photo of the month before zooming home
dropped off donuts for my neighbour as she’d already been to my house (gosh darn why do people do things early instead of on time.. i cant live lik this D:) but nothing couldve prepared me for what she left at my door..
at first glance, a beautiful rice box with some pretty flowers in an equally gorgeous paper bag
picked it up to realize there was also a heavy glass bottle of yummy lookin beverage
unpacked it to find a box of still warm pork katsu + veggies under the box of rice w shredded egg n toppings, yuzu umesake, a brand new bottle of katsu sauce, flowers carefully wrapped in water and plastic, and a 4pg heartwarming letter.
had the most perfect friday night dinner date, all set up, delivered w no contact, complete with fresh flowers, no company better than my own, no obligations, no expectations
was completely shook that this neighbour mom who ive met one time could wine n dine me so good, i probably dont need a bf and also that someone could care that much into putting so much effort, but also not care if it’d be too much for anyone.. and THAT is the level of extra that I deserve. n it gave me the feeling this is a place where I can receive the level of love that I want to give.
completed the night with a lovely cotton candy sky while enjoying a mint choco ice cream outside.
enjoyed a 10min watermelon rind facial (google its the benefits) while basking in the most perfect friday
sipped the BOMB ass sake with a snacc platter while writing this post
