time went by so fast i forgot month 4 :’D
y’all didnt miss much .. mostly vacation craziness (i lost a bunch of things) and january was just getting back into routine n fighting off seasonal depression (so far so good.) my beloved 3rd year students took their final exams this month and are off settling into their new jobs and moving away for uni- i miss half of em n said good riddance to the other half AKA the zoo kids.. :’) even tho i only taught em for 4 months, they were my fave group- the girls were sweet n offered me candy. and although rowdy n occasionally inappropriate, it’s fair to say there was never a dull day with all my architecture n denki bois. FAREWELL to em all~ (fun fact: less than 20% of japanese ppl say ‘sayonara’ but as one of the few ppl who still uses ‘farewell’ in english, ill stick to it n re-affirm my gaijin status :D)
exciting realization of the month is that my 1st years will become 3rd year students before i leave japan (O YEA SOOO i recontracted lol bread was too good i cant come home jus yet s’oz) and their school year starts in april so ill get to see these shy lil babies grow into yung independent adults :’)
some things i did since last time:
- recontracted
- spontaneously painted on a hill
- socialized 4 days, in a row !!! pls b proud
- went 2 towns over to acquire a snowboard BUT WHERE IS THE SNOW
- tried a new onsen WHADDUP shinonsen/yumura (cute af town like kinosaki straight outta a historic drama)
- hiked to the northernmost part of hyogo which also looks like a crouching cat when viewed from the ocean
more places i’ve visited: kobe, osaka and kyoto again, taiwan, hongkong, shinonsen, yumura, tottori, yabu
times i’ve almost been hit by a car: 4
new good thing about school: washrooms finally finished renovating!! NEW WESTERN TOILETS w heated seats (i never understood this technology till winter came n now ive never been more grateful) n the staff toilets r the fancy ones. the only downside is this annoying automatic ”privacy sensor” that loudly plays the sound of a toilet flushing to drown out the sound of u doin ur thing n actually flushing a toilet. u literally cant move in the stall or this thing GOES OFF n alerts the whole hallway SOMEONE IS DOIN THEY BIZNESS.. cant think of a better way to not be noticed in the washroom -.- but ive found one with a broken sensor #strategy
japanese slang of the month: NANDE YANNE = the countryside version of WTF
february festivities: yeeting off for a bday vacay, rental car adventures, and a wknd trip with co-workers
ok BYE, (厄払い good riddance also means exorcism in japanese.. so ill stick to さよなら!)
